Monday Mornings Home-ware sewing with Annabelle Davis – 10.00 – 12.00
At our Monday morning sewing group, we will learn all the basic sewing skills needed to give you the confidence to sew at home. Beginners will be guided through each step from choosing the right fabric to setting up your machine. We will begin with a simple cushion and then build in new skills as we move on. During this course you can learn how to set up and thread a sewing machine sew straight seams and hems turn corners finish off seams neatly make buttonholes insert zips make and insert piping Cost: £30 each session
Monday after-school Sewing Club 4pm – 5pm
We will begin this term by learning how to make a rag rug. This can be great fun, using almost ANY fabric, netting, wool, or even old rubber gloves! Traditionally old clothes were cut into strips and hooked through an open weave backing cloth, to create floor coverings. We will make a small square each and then we will use this square to make something – perhaps a funky bag or a shaggy cushion.
£60 per half term to be paid at the beginning of the term to secure your place.
Tuesday morning Adult Sewing Club – 9.30 – 12.00
Basic sewing skills – get to know your own machine or use one of ours. By the second lesson you will make a simple project like a bag or apron. Then progressing on to dressmaking using a pattern and pattern cutting or copying a wardrobe favourite. Cost £35 per session or £190 for 6 sessions.
Tuesday after school sewing club – 4.00 – 5.00 pm
This term we will start by making a pair of pyjama trousers. During this project you will learn how to cut a pattern from a pair of trousers which fit you, sew and finish neat seams, make different types of waistband and to turn a hem. Your trousers can be customized to your own design with different fabrics, trims, elastic cuffs, pockets etc.
Suitable for age 12yrs and up – £90 per half term session to be paid at the beginning of the term. This includes a snack and a drink and use of the materials in the workshop
Tuesday evening – Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction 7.00 pm – 9.30 pm
A regular Tuesday evening class with experienced clothing designer Susan Quekett. Learn the principles of making basic blocks, adapting these for perfect fit, and developing individual designs. All aspects of garment construction and professional sewing techniques (including using a sewing machine) will be covered in tandem with pattern cutting. Wednesday morning – Upholstery with Sheila Nash 10 am – 1pm
Springs sagging, cover in tatters, stuffing escaping? Bring along an old, unloved piece of furniture, such as a small nursing or arm chair, set of dining chairs, piano stool and learn how to transform it into something beautiful and useful once again. Both beginners and improvers are very welcome. You will learn skills such as webbing, springing, stuffing and recovering, using traditional methods and materials. Tools will be available to borrow and all materials can be purchased as needed. Only 6 places will be available, costing £35 per session materials available and charged on additionally.
Wednesday afternoon – Blind and Curtain Making with Sheila Nash 2pm – 4pm
Come and learn the craft of curtain making with Sheila Nash. Brighten up your rooms whilst learning a new skill.

Thursday Morning – Crochet and The Square Knitters
Come and learn to crochet or bring your own project – if you need a guiding hand Annabelle will be at One The Square on the first Thursday of every month to instruct you and set you up. £5 for instruction or just drop in for some crochet, knitting or a natter. Drop in from 10.30am onwards for the Square Knitters. The Square Knitters are a group of inspirational knitters – prepared to be wowed by their passion and talent – come along and learn some new techniques.
Patchwork & Quilting Thursdays 7.30 – 9.30 pm with Margaret Quinn
Patchwork & Quilting – Classes Thursdays 7.30 to 9.30pm. Come and learn how to hand sew a hexagon pattern cushion, how to layer with backing & batting. Then either learn how to hand or machine quilt before completing your patchwork into a beautiful cushion. We will then move onto traditional patchwork blocks, you will learn how to make templates, rotary cutting, & many different techniques. These blocks can either be made into cushions, table centres, wall hangings or be pieced together to make into a complete quilt. Cost £12.
